New Anglican Church is connected to the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, and part of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA).  Bishop Bob Duncan of Pittsburgh is also the head, or Primate, of the ACNA.  It is our hope that one day in the not so distant future New Anglican Church will grow large enough to become a diocese on its own.

The ACNA represents the coming together of many partner churches.  Some have recently left The Episcopal Church, while others left a long time ago.  All uphold traditional beliefs and practices.  All are saddened by the curent fracture caused by The Episcopal Church to the world wide Anglican Communion.  The fracture, or tear as it is usually called, was caused when the Episcopal Church unilaterally changed Anglican Doctrine. The goal of the ACNA is to rebuild a dynamic Anglican presence in North America and to become a new Province within the Anglican Communion.

The ACNA is now launched.  The first Provincial Assembly was held on June 22nd - 25th, 2009 in Bedford, Texas. The Assembly formally adopted a constitution and cannons, and instituted Archbishop Duncan as Primate.  Becoming recognized as a new Anglican Province will take several years, and is complicated by the fact that The Episcopal Church and the Anglican Church of Canada are already Provinces and are resisting this development.
